From Chicken Paprikash to Paint Colors: What My Mom Taught Me About Home

There’s something about May that always makes me pause.

Maybe it’s the way the sun lingers a little longer in the evenings. Maybe it’s the sound of muddy paws on hardwood floors (hi, Milo- our fluffy Barketing Assistant). Or maybe it’s Mother’s Day, with all its emotion, complexity, and meaning. For me, it always circles back to one woman: my mom.

We grew up in a little Cape Cod in Ohio—on Lennox Road. It wasn’t fancy. But it was everything. My mom made that house home.

She had a sixth sense for comfort. She knew how to soften a space without spending a fortune. She understood that beauty lived in the little things—warm lighting, soft textiles, a pot of Chicken Paprakash on the stove. And she gave me the gift of noticing.

Noticing how people feel in a room.
Noticing what stories a space holds.
Noticing when something’s off, and more importantly—how to make it right.

I carry that into every project at Lennox Road Interiors. Because I believe in design that goes deeper than surface-level trends. I believe in creating homes that feel like home.

So this May, I’m thinking about:
– The moms who raised us.
– The women who long to be mothers.
– The ones who never had kids, but poured love into everyone around them.
– And the homes we all build—whether we’re 30, 60, single, partnered, with kids or fur-babies or both.

We deserve spaces that support us. Spaces that reflect who we are, where we’ve been, and where we’re headed.

If your home still feels like it belongs to someone else (maybe your builder?), it might be time to change that.
